Gakusei karate Student’s Grading Guide

In-class Gradings

Your first three full gradings will be performed as part of your normal class. These gradings will be rewarded with a certificate and a new belt. 

These gradings will need to be prepaid one week before attempting. Note that all in the event of a student not passing a grading they will be afforded 2 more attempts before paying the grading fee again.

Formal Kyu Gradings

Formal Kyu gradings for orange belt to red belt are conducted 3 times per year.

These gradings will be rewarded with a certificate and a new belt.

Note that all in the event of a student not passing a grading they will be afforded 2 more attempts before paying the grading fee again.

Students will not be able to attempt 8th kyu orange belt gradings unless they wear a Club Gi both at the grading and consistently at class. This shows both support for and respect for the club and our style of Gakusei Karate.

Brown and black belt grading

Formal Kyu brown and black belt gradings are conducted twice a year.

These gradings will be rewarded with a certificate and a new belt.
